Experts to lay out global stakes of U.S.-Iran war at MSU Denver event
Former undersecretary of the Navy and MSU Denver President Janine Davidson will lead a panel discussion of the fast-evolving conflict and what comes next.
With the U.S.-Iran war carrying major implications for global stability, Metropolitan State University of Denver, in collaboration with the Josef Korbel School of Global and Public Affairs at the University of Denver, will host an expert panel to help make sense of the evolving conflict and what could come next.
MSU Denver President Janine Davidson, Ph.D., a national security expert and former undersecretary of the Navy, is among a panel of leading experts who will participate in “A Conversation on the U.S.-Iran Conflict: Global Impacts and What Happens Next.”
The free event is open to the public and will take place April 23 at MSU Denver. It will also be streamed live for those who want to attend virtually.
Panelists will discuss the war’s geopolitical dynamics, military strategy and economic impacts, including what developments could mean in the months ahead in the Middle East and here in the U.S. They will offer their perspectives on issues such as regional stability, escalation risks, energy markets and global trade to help the community better understand the complex conflict.

A national thought leader in higher education, public service and national security, Davidson, a former Air Force officer and pilot, served in senior roles at the Department of Defense and is a recognized expert in U.S. foreign policy.
Frederick “Fritz” Mayer, Ph.D. , dean, Josef Korbel School of Global and Public Affairs, University of Denver
An expert in international political economy and globalization, Mayer leads one of the nation’s top schools of global affairs and focuses on the intersection of politics, markets and global change.
David Kilcullen, Ph.D. , professor of War Studies, University of New South Wales; author, counterinsurgency expert
A globally recognized authority on modern conflict, Kilcullen is a former advisor to U.S. and allied governments, and has written extensively on military strategy, insurgency and global security.
Kishore Kulkarni, Ph.D. , professor of Economics, Metropolitan State University of Denver
An expert in international economics, Kulkarni’s research focuses on global trade, development and economic policy, with insight into how geopolitical events shape markets and economic systems.
