Former Mexican President Vicente Fox to speak at MSU Denver
Fox will join Gov. John Hickenlooper and Canadian Consul Stephane Lessard for a conversation on global business Aug. 30.
Add another name to the growing list of leaders to visit Metropolitan State University of Denver in recent years: former Mexican President Vicente Fox.
Fox will be on the Auraria Campus on Aug. 30 to speak at an open forum and participate in a panel with Gov. John Hickenlooper and Canadian Consul Stephane Lessard. The forum will be moderated by MSU Denver President Janine Davidson, Ph.D., and is co-sponsored by the University’s College of Business.
“I see this forum as a real opportunity for our state, university and students,” Davidson said. “President Fox is a strong leader and innovative thinker. We are excited to welcome him to campus.”
The event is one of several stops for Fox as part of a three-day Global Trade and Investment Forum, hosted by the Global Chamber Denver. He is expected to discuss trade, international business and potential collaboration between Mexico and Colorado.
Fox has been in the news recently as an adamant supporter of the North American Free Trade Agreement. He also has advocated for greater collaboration between the education and business sectors to support economic growth.
The forum, which runs 2-4 p.m. at the King Center Recital Hall, is open to the public. Tickets can be purchased online. There will also be a free livestream available.
More than 200 complimentary tickets have been distributed to MSU Denver students.
For Ann Murphy, Ph.D., dean of MSU Denver’s College of Business, the event is a pertinent learning opportunity for students.
“As we work to prepare students for business in a global context, it is essential that they are exposed to perspectives outside their own,” she said. “This learning experience is a great way to kick off the semester.”
