VIDEO: Viewers are over the moon at eclipse watch party
The Department of Physics provided solar telescopes and free eclipse glasses for optimal viewing.
Viewers gathered at Metropolitan State University of Denver to watch the partial solar eclipse April 8. It was the first time a solar eclipse has passed over North America since 2017. The eclipse reached 71% totality in Denver between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. The Department of Physics hosted the watch party on the lawn of the Jordan Student Success Building, providing free eclipse glasses and four solar telescopes for optimal viewing.

The next solar eclipse visible from the United States will be August 23, 2044. Colorado (Denver and Colorado Springs) will be in the path of totality for the solar eclipse August 12, 2045.
