About
James Dove, Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Physics at Metropolitan State University of Denver. His expertise includes astrophysics, solar physics, high-energy astrophysics, black holes, the interstellar medium and space plasma physics.
Dove has taught physics and astronomy at MSU Denver since 1999. His research focuses on astrophysics, with an emphasis on black holes, the interstellar medium, solar physics and neutron stars.. His work explores some of the most extreme environments in the universe, from regions surrounding black holes to the Sun’s outer atmosphere.
Before joining MSU Denver, Dove conducted research in astrophysics with a focus on X-ray binaries and black hole accretion processes. His doctoral research examined the predicted spectrum of X-ray radiation emitted by accreting black holes.
Dove earned a doctorate in astrophysics from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1997 and a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of California San Diego in 1991.
