At this signature MSU Denver event, the community came together to celebrate individuals dedicated to peace, justice and compassion for all.

For over 30 years, Metropolitan State University of Denver has celebrated the life, legacy and ideals of Martin Luther King Jr. at its annual Peace Breakfast. The event features a keynote address and an awards ceremony that acknowledges individuals for their contributions to peace, justice, diversity, equality and social change. This year’s event took place at the Tivoli Turnhalle on Jan. 13.

The theme of this year's Martin Luther King Jr. Peace Breakfast on January 13 at the Tivoli Turnhalle was “Liberation through Education: Decolonizing Systems of Power.”
The awards ceremony is a key component of the Martin Luther King Jr. Peace Breakfast.
Carlotta Walls LaNier gave the keynote address. A member of the Little Rock Nine, LaNier was among a group of nine Black students who integrated Little Rock Central High School in 1957.
The MLK Legacy Choir performed at the event.
Emcee Reverend Quincy "Q" Shannon encouraged audience participation during the performances.
Civil-rights trailblazer Carlotta Walls LaNier gave the keynote address.
Allison Cotton, Ph.D., Miguel Huerta, Gregor Mieder, Dwinita Mosby Tyler, Ph.D., and Mariana Pascual Miranda, pictured with MSU Denver President Janine Davidson and Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion Michael Benitez, were honored as Martin Luther King Jr. Peace Award-winners this year.
