Devi Kalla

Devi K. Kalla, Ph.D., is currently employed at Metropolitan State University of Denver on a full time basis as a Tenure Track Faculty member with a position title of Professor of Mechanical Engineering Technology in the Department of Engineering Technology. Kalla has made substantial contributions to the hybrid and modern field of sustainable manufacturing science and engineering technology. His work has focused specifically in the areas of developing multiple regression analysis (MR) and committee neural network approximation (CN) models for predicting straight and oblique geometric cutting forces in milling operations using carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites in the production process, establishing life-cycle databases to advance sustainable manufacturing practices in wind energy systems, and developing a framework to construct energy profiles and characterize the energy consumption involved in modern machining processes to support low carbon manufacturing.

Moreover, Kalla has a documented record of authorship in the field of endeavor. As evidence of his research success, Kalla’s work has resulted in at least 2 first-authored book chapters, 13 presentations, and 28 peer-reviewed scholarly publications, 16 of which are first-authored articles, appearing in leading international journals and international conference proceedings – an extremely productive and exemplary record compared to that of his peers in the mutual field of research.

Chris Jennings

Chris Jennings, Ed.D. is chair and professor in the Department of Journalism and Media Production at Metropolitan State University of Denver.

He has over two decades of experience in the media education field. Jennings has held positions as training analyst, instructional designer, director of digital media services, digital media producer, consultant and adjunct teaching faculty. He worked as education program specialist at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC. In addition to teaching, Jennings was assistant director for An Adventure of the American Mind Grant at MSU Denver. He is a member of several professional organizations including e-Learning Consortium of Colorado, American Society of Training and Development, International Society of Performance Improvement and Society of Technical Communications. Jennings received the Humanitarian Service Medal, Expeditionary Medal (Panama), Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal and the National Defense Medal for his service in the U.S. Army.

His research interests include interactive realities, virtual realities, streaming media, usability testing and human factors with technology. Jennings has authored and co-authored several books with the most recent one in 2010 titled “Educational Virtual Environment Methodologies: Second Life as an Instructional Tool” a textbook for the University of Wyoming. He has given many presentations around the country and on a few occasions in China about the use of media and technology in education.

Jennings received his Doctor of Education in instructional technology from the University of Wyoming in 2010, a master’s in multimedia technologies from Regis University in 2002 and a bachelor’s in speech communication from MSU Denver in 1996.

Janos Fustos

Janos T. Fustos, Ph.D., is a tenured professor in the Department of Computer Information Systems and Business Analytics at Metropolitan State University of Denver. He specializes in web development, web site administration, web programming and information systems security.

Fustos is actively involved in service through his role of chairing the ABET accreditation committee in the CIS Department and the AACSB technology committee in the College of Business as well as serving on the university-wide committees that determine IT strategies, policies and procedures. He helped the CIS department receive the re-accreditation for ABET. Fustos co-sponsored the creation of the Health Care Information Systems undergraduate program. He maintains his AQ status by engaging in professional development activities focused on the impact of technology in training and learning; and global aspects of information system education. He regularly attends conferences, professional presentations, workshops and seminars related to his professional interest areas and accreditation.

Fustos received his doctorate in engineering management in 1993, masters in chemical engineering in 1982, and a bachelor’s in factory operations management in 1980 from University of Veszprem, Hungary.

Steve Beaty

Steve Beaty, Ph.D., has an extensive background in both the theoretic and pragmatic aspects of computers and networks. He wrote compilers at Cray Computer, managed a large group of developers and was a software test architect at Hewlett-Packard. He was also the security team lead at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder.

At Metropolitan State University of Denver, Beaty is currently a professor of Computer Science and has served as chair of the Mathematical and Computer Sciences Department and interim vice-president for Information Technology. He works on a number of open-source projects, consults with a variety of businesses and interviews regularly with the media.

Jeno Balogh

Jeno Balogh, Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Civil Engineering Technology at Metropolitan State University of Denver. His areas of expertise are engineering and design software development and structural analysis. He is currently teaching Engineering Graphics, Steel Design I, and Engineering Graphics – Solid Modeling.

Prior to joining MSU Denver, Balogh taught at Colorado State University in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Balogh has published nearly 30 scientific research pieces, most recently in the Journal of Structural Engineering and Pollack Periodica.
