PHOTOS: St. Cajetan’s restored to original colors
The fresh coat of paint is part of a rehabilitation plan celebrating the church’s 100th anniversary next year.
For nearly a century, St. Cajetan’s has been a treasured landmark in Denver’s Auraria neighborhood. Now, it boasts a refreshed exterior that honors its rich history. The historic church’s yellow and blue facade reflects the original color palette from its construction, which was completed in 1926.
Built to serve Denver’s Hispanic population and as a gathering space for the Auraria neighborhood, St. Cajetan’s continues its legacy as a venue for campus and community events. The recent repainting and stucco restoration mark the completion of a comprehensive, multiyear rehabilitation project. Funded by the Colorado Historical Fund and Auraria Campus, the initiative included window and stained-glass restoration, the construction of an Americans With Disabilities Act-compliant ramp and tile roof repairs.
As the church approaches its centennial anniversary in 2026, its revitalized appearance stands as a symbol of the campus’ deep cultural roots.
