Students at Metropolitan State University of Denver earned their degrees this month, as the bi-annual Commencement ceremony returned to the Denver Coliseum. The nearly 2,100 students eligible to receive their degrees joined the University’s community of over 110,000 alumni.

“Regardless of when you were born, what brought you here, and who is cheering you on from the audience, your future can be whatever you want it to be,” said Janine Davidson, Ph.D., MSU Denver president.

Davidson kicked off the morning ceremony and was joined on stage by Congresswoman Brittany Petterson, an MSU Denver alumna in Political Science, as well as Provost’s Award winner Valeria Pernas, among others.

Graduates celebrated their academic achievements and took the first step toward careers that will tackle the world’s greatest challenges and make a difference in lives everywhere.

“Throughout history, it’s the youngest generation who have challenged the old ways of doing things and work to make our world a more just place,” Pettersen said. “This generation gives me hope that the best is yet to come.”
