Earning a college degree while raising children requires hard work, along with dedication, patience, exemplary time-management skills and probably the ability to function without much sleep.
This semester, Metropolitan State University of Denver recognized and honored the sacrifices and extraordinary achievements of those students at the first-ever Parenting Students Graduation Celebration.
About 120 people, including 30 parenting graduates, attended the May 9 celebration at St. Cajetan’s. Future Roadrunners presented their hardworking moms and dads with special graduation ropes, created in colors that represent wisdom, creativity and ambition.
The University estimates that about 1 in 10 MSU Denver students are parents. Since 2024, MSU Denver has been one of five institutions participating in FamilyU, which provides support to parenting students.
