Students in Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Fundamentals of Nursing course have a new appreciation for what is fundamental in health care.

Through a partnership with the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, Nursing students in the course are administering critical Covid-19 vaccines to vulnerable and in-need populations.

It’s an exciting partnership with a lot of innovation built in, said Hannah Bass, education coordinator at the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless.

“Seeing the reality of where people are getting care during this pandemic is eye-opening,” she said.

The experience “really shakes things down to the root of it,” said Nursing student Alex Swisher. “You see what really is needed – because it’s all hands on deck.”
