PHOTOS: Topping off ceremony celebrates MSU Denver’s residence hall reaching new heights
Construction workers hoisted the final beam for the new building, which is scheduled to open fall 2027.
Metropolitan State University of Denver President Janine Davidson, Ph.D., joined PCL Construction and Columbia Ventures leaders June 12 to hoist the final beam onto the rapidly rising Summit House at MSU Denver.
The topping off ceremony marked a milestone in the construction of the University’s first student residence.
In keeping with centuries of tradition, representatives of the University and the project team signed the beam, which was topped off with a potted evergreen, a tradition likely rooted in the Scandinavian belief that it brings good luck.
Among the dignitaries attending were Construction Project Management students and PCL interns Ivan Luna and Gage Liddiard. Liddiard said it’s “awesome” being part of a project that is “changing the view of MSU Denver for future generations.”
Scheduled to open in 2027, Summit House at MSU Denver will provide housing for 550 students, a new home for the Kemper Classroom 2 Career Hub, dining and retail space.
It also, Luna said, will provide spectacular views. He would know.
