PHOTOS: MSU Denver students get a first look at campus housing
Summit House model rooms offer a sneak peek at the residence hall that will open in fall 2027.
Beds up high or beds down low? Dark metal frames or light wood to match the mass timber on the walls?
Several dozen Metropolitan State University of Denver students got to ponder these weighty questions, and vote for their choice of furniture, during a sneak peek Sept. 23 at a model room in the new Summit House student residence .
David McNabb, executive director of Housing and Residence Life, spent the afternoon leading groups of hard-hatted, curious students on tours of a two-room, fourth-floor suite. Most rooms will house two students, with a shared bathroom linking two rooms. “Every room has its own air conditioning, and its own wi-fi,” McNabb told the visitors.
“Wow, this is a lot more spacious bathroom than I expected,” Film Studies major Abby Caro said as she explored the pristine, white-tiled sink area and the adjoining, but separate, shower and toilet area. Caro said the timing of Summit House opening is great for her. She lives with her parents, but they’re planning to move soon.
The 12-story Summit House is scheduled to open in fall 2027. MSU Denver’s first on-campus student residence will provide space for 550 students, with retail on the first floor and the Kemper Classroom to Career Hub on the second.
