About
Shaun T. Schafer is the associate vice president of curriculum, academic effectiveness and policy development in the Department of Academic Affairs at the Metropolitan State University of Denver. Schafer is also professor in the Journalism and Media Production Department. His areas of expertise include media law, media ethics, free press, curriculum policies and artificial intelligence in academic settings.
He oversees all areas of curriculum and production of catalogs at the university, develops academic policies, and guides academic program review and assessment of student learning. Schafer previously served as a chair and professor in the journalism department following a 20-year career in news.
Schafer received his bachelor’s in Journalism/News Communication from the University of Oklahoma, his master’s in Educational Leadership Studies from Oklahoma State University, and his doctorates in Educational Leadership: Renewal, Growth and Change from Colorado State University.
