About

Alex Komodore, M.A., is a professor of music at Metropolitan State University of Denver and an internationally recognized classical guitarist. His areas of expertise include classical guitar performance, music interpretation, chamber music, music education and guitar technique.

Komodore has performed extensively throughout the United States as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral soloist. A First Prize National winner in the Music Teachers National Association guitar competition, he has appeared on NPR and PBS broadcasts and has performed at venues including New York’s Town Hall, St. Paul’s Chapel and the United Nations. His recordings have received national and international recognition, including the award-winning collaboration Redstone with flutist Rod Garnett and his solo recording Passport, which earned praise from renowned guitarists Christopher Parkening, Sharon Isbin and David Russell.

In addition to his performance career, Komodore has recorded with nationally recognized choral ensembles, including Kantorei and the St. John’s Cathedral Choir. His writings on guitar technique and pedagogy have appeared in Fingerstyle Guitar magazine

His recordings and appearances with top-notch choral ensembles such as Kantori and the St. John’s Cathedral Choir have also received national acclaim. His columns on guitar technique and advice have also been featured in Fingerstyle Guitar magazine.

He earned his  master’s degree in music performance from the University of Denver and  bachelor’s degree in music performance from New York University.
