About
Judith Strathearn, Ph.D., is a lecturer in the Gender and Women’s Studies Department and an affiliate professor in the Africana Studies Department at Metropolitan State University of Denver. Her areas of expertise include black feminism, experiential pedagogy, literature of the African Diaspora and Gullah Geechee studies.
Strathearn is a local trailblazer as she instructs the only experiential Gullah course in the Rocky Mountain region with student travel to the historical Sea Islands of Carolina and Georgia. She also created and taught the first course on Black Feminism at MSU Denver. Additionally, she has experience designing courses for high school students in composition, ethnic studies and literature.
Strathearn received her doctorate degree in English Literature from the University of Colorado Boulder bachelor’s degree in Ethnic Literature from MSU Denver, her master’s degree in English from the University of Colorado Denver and her doctorate degree in English Literature from the University of Colorado Boulder.
