About

Jay Martyn, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of sports management in the Department of Exercise and Sports Science at Metropolitan State University of Denver. His areas of expertise include sport venue and event management, leadership in sport organizations, and student engagement in the sport and entertainment industry.

Martyn has more than a decade of experience in sport management education, focusing on experiential learning and professional preparation for students entering the sport industry. His research interests include sport administration, applied statistics and strategies for integrating data-driven decision-making into event and facility management.

Prior to joining MSU Denver, Martyn taught sport management and business courses at several Colorado institutions, including the University of Colorado and the University of Northern Colorado, where he also served as a graduate research associate. 

Martyn holds a doctor of philosophy in Sport Administration with a doctoral minor in Applied Statistics and Research Methods from the University of Northern Colorado and a master’s degree in Sport Management with a concentration in Facilities and Event Management from PennWest California.
