About
Becky Bolinger, Ph.D., is an affiliate faculty in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Metropolitan State University of Denver. Her expertise includes Colorado climate variability, drought, climate extremes, water resources, snowpack, flooding and precipitation, and the intersection of climate and agriculture.
Bolinger has spent over a decade translating complex climate science into accessible information for all audiences. Her research focuses on climate variability, drought monitoring, hydroclimate and climate change, and she has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications. She is also a current member of the American Meteorology Society and the American Association of State Climatologists.
Before joining MSU Denver, she served for nearly a decade as assistant state climatologist at Colorado State University, where she monitored Colorado’s climate, analyzed long-term weather patterns and communicated climate data and trends to stakeholders across the state. She later worked as a senior climate and water resources scientist, providing climate and hydroclimate expertise to support water resource management and planning.
She earned her doctor of philosophy in Atmospheric Science from Colorado State University, a master’s degree in Meteorology from Florida State University and a bachelor’s degree in Meteorology from MSU Denver.
