TEDx MSU Denver: From Homo sapiens to spacelings
WATCH: Lockheed Martin deep space exploration engineer Dave Gingerich reimagines a future in which our species' survival requires evolving to live entirely in space.
Metropolitan State University of Denver partnered with TEDx Cherry Creek to present TEDx MSU Denver 2019 on Sept. 12. In the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading,” RED is broadcasting the big ideas MSU Denver thought leaders shared.
Here, Lockheed Martin Space Systems deep space exploration engineer Dave Gingerich reimagines a future in which our species lives entirely in space. Gingerich, who is also an affiliate professor in MSU Denver’s Department of Aviation and Aerospace Science, argues that not only is Earth not humanity’s forever home, but neither is Mars, a planet that won’t protect us from our doomed solar system. Instead, human space exploration and spaceflight have but one goal: For all humans to escape Earth and realize our next evolutionary step of living entirely in space.
