Metropolitan State University of Denver’s cutting-edge Interprofessional Simulation and Skills Laboratory, or Sim Labs, officially opened Sept. 4 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. These state-of-the-art facilities include a nurses station, ambulance bay, home health lab and other realistic care environments, offering students hands-on experience in patient care.

Nursing students, especially those in Nursing Skills Lab and Nursing Foundations courses, immediately began applying their skills in these simulated settings. Funded through a combination of state and philanthropic support, the Sim Labs are a key feature of the Gina and Frank Day Health Institute and part of an ambitious plan to boost student capacity by 25%.

The next phase, scheduled for 2025, will add a 70,000-square-foot tower, housing six floors of advanced learning spaces and technology, bringing all 10 of MSU Denver’s health-related programs under one roof.
