About

Kelly Marcotte Akulschin, MBA, is an affiliate professor in the Department of Aviation and Aerospace Science at Metropolitan State University of Denver. She is also a commercial airline pilot for FedEx Express and serves as a mentor of the Mile High Flight Program, supporting the development and training of aspiring aviation professionals. 

Her expertise includes airline transport and commercial aviation operations. Over the course of her career, she has operated a diverse range of aircraft, including the Beechcraft 1900, Boeing 727, Boeing 757 and Boeing 767, as well as numerous single-engine, multi-engine and jet aircraft. She has served as a flight instructor, skydiving aircraft pilot and commercial airline pilot and has previously flown for American Airlines and United Airlines. 

She holds an airline transport pilot certificate with multi-engine land privileges and type ratings for several aircraft. She also maintains several commercial airplane certificates for single-engine land, flight engineer, flight instructor and ground instructor. 

Akulschin earned a bachelor’s degree in aviation technology from Metropolitan State University of Denver and a Master of Business Administration from Regis University.
