About

Eric Blomfelt, J.D., CPCU, is a management professor in the College of Business at Metropolitan State University of Denver. His expertise includes risk management, insurance and designing comprehensive loss mitigation programs.

Blomfelt teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Risk Management and Business Law. He also serves as Executive Director and President/CEO of a risk retention company, Biologix Insurance Captive, LLC.

His service to the community includes nationwide presentations on risk management, insurance and workers’ compensation. His most recent publication is his book I Got Stuck with Risk Management – The Non-Experts Guide (2025).

Prior to joining MSU Denver in 2014, Blomfelt served as an executive director for the Wyoming Association of Risk Management (WARM). He managed governance, risk management, loss control and administering claims for member municipalities. With over 25 years of experience, Blomfelt is an active leader in the field of insurance and risk management.

He received his Juris Doctorate and Bachelor’s in Journalism from the University of Wyoming. Blomfelt also holds the credentials as a chartered property casualty underwriter and an associate in risk management.
