About
David Yee, Ph.D., is an assistant professor in the Department of History at Metropolitan State University of Denver. His areas of expertise include social inequality, urban social movements, migration and urban Mexico.
Yee’s research focuses on the political and social histories of Mexico City and New York City, with an emphasis on inequality and urban change. His work explores how migration and social movements shape cities and influence broader historical developments.
Before joining MSU Denver, Yee was a research fellow and lecturer at the University of Colorado Boulder.
In the classroom, Yee encourages students to examine Latin American history through the relationships among Indigenous peoples, Europeans and Africans. His teaching highlights how nations in Latin America have worked to construct stable political and social systems.
He earned a doctorate in philosophy from Stony Brook University.
