Perri Corvino

Perri Corvino, MSW, is a lecturer in the Department of Social Work at Metropolitan State University of Denver. She has been working in the field of mental health since 2005, and her experience in social work ranges from residential treatment to private practice. Her areas of expertise include experiencing and recovering from traumatic events, addiction, mental illness, LGBTQ community, self-care and vicarious trauma.

During her undergraduate studies, Corvino volunteered for a crisis hotline and as a victim’s advocate for people escaping intimate partner violence. After completing her masters, she went on to work in residential, jail, community and outpatient settings. Cornino also owned her own private psychotherapy practice until 2018 when she joined the social work program as as a full-time lecturer. Her academic research focuses on creating trauma-informed college and university classrooms, in an effort to counter the domination and oppression faced by students.

Corvino is currently a Ph.D. student at Smith College School for social Work in Northampton, Massachusetts. She received her master’s in social work and women’s studies from Loyola University Chicago in 2010.
