About
Christy Ann Carello, Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Biology at Metropolitan State University of Denver, specializing in ornithology and conservation biology. With more than 25 years of experience in environmental consulting, research and education, she has made significant contributions to avian studies and conservation.
Carello began her academic career at MSU Denver, serving as an assistant professor from 2003 to 2007, later advancing to associate professor from 2007 to 2012. She now serves as a full professor.
She is deeply engaged in the scientific community, serving on numerous professional committees and boards, including the planning committee for the Mongolia Studies Conference, the Board of Advisors for the Denver Audubon Society’s Lois Webster Fund, and the Department of Biology’s Research Committee. Additionally, she is a member of the editorial review board for Colorado Birds and a grant proposal reviewer for the Colorado Field Ornithologists.
Carello has published in leading journals and magazines such as the Journal of Tropical Ecology, Colorado Birds, Wetlands Ecology and Management, Science and Technology Libraries, and Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology.
Carello earned her Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of Colorado Boulder in environmental, population and organismic biology, and her B.A. from the University of California, Santa Cruz, in biology.
