Casey Phinney

Casey Phinney, MA, is an assistant professor in the Department of Aviation and Aerospace Sciences at Metropolitan State University of Denver. His expertise includes unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), drone operations, advanced air mobility and helicopter aviation. 

With over a decade of aviation teaching experience, Phinney helps prepare the next generation of aviation professionals through MSU Denver’s Uncrewed Aircraft Systems program, where he trains students for FAA Remote Pilot certification.  

Prior to joining MSU Denver, he worked as a Certified Flight Instructor, teaching primary, private, commercial and instrument helicopters to students.  He also served in flight operations in the U.S. Army, bringing extensive real-world aviation experience to the classroom.  

He holds two master’s degrees in Education Administration and Teacher Leadership from Western Colorado State University.
