About
Carolyn McGary, M.S., is an assistant professor and director of Construction Project Management in the Department of Engineering and Engineering Technology at Metropolitan State University of Denver. Her areas of expertise include construction, facility management, sustainability, workforce development, and connecting education with industry to prepare the next generation of professionals in the built environment.
In addition to her teaching role, McGary oversees the Construction Project Management program, where she integrates classroom learning with real-world industry partnerships and experiential projects. She has presented at national conferences and appeared on industry podcasts, advocating for workforce development and stronger collaboration between education and the facility management industry.
McGary brings more than two decades of combined experience in facility management, business operations, and higher education to her teaching and leadership at MSU Denver. Her work focuses on bridging the gap between academic training and industry applications to cultivate a skilled and adaptable workforce.
McGary earned a Master of Science in Management from Colorado Technical University and a Bachelor of Science in Facility Management from Colorado State University of Pueblo. She is a Certified Facility Manager, an IFMA ( International Facilities Management Association) qualified instructor, and a Sustainability Facility Professional.
