About
Austin Elsey, MBA, is a lecturer in the Finance Department at Metropolitan State University of Denver. His expertise includes the banking industry, financial analysis, and fraud. His research focuses on community banking, exploring the effects of regulatory changes, whether the U.S. is moving toward a national banking system, and the potential need to modernize asset and liability management strategies.
In addition to teaching, Elsey is the President of True North Bank Consulting, LLC, and an affiliate professor of finance at Grand Canyon University. He holds several certifications, including Certified Management Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Divorce Financial Analyst, and Master Analyst in Financial Forensics, as well as a Credit Risk certification. Elsey also chairs the committee for the Risk Management Association and serves as a board member of student engagement of the Denver Centennial Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants. He volunteers as a judge for Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and DECA Inc.
Before joining MSU Denver, Elsey was an affiliate professor of finance at Regis University.
Elsey is pursuing his doctorate in Business Analytics from Grand Canyon University, has earned an MBA from the University of Florida, and a bachelor’s in finance from Missouri Southern State University.
