About

Alexander D. Clayton, M.S., is an affiliate faculty member at Metropolitan State University of Denver in the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology. His areas of expertise include behavioral health in justice settings, data analysis and visualization, corrections, policing, and issues pertaining to national security and intelligence gathering.  

In addition to his teaching role, Clayton serves as the Criminal Justice Monitoring and Evaluation Program Coordinator for the Colorado Behavioral Health Administration (BHA), where he specializes in applying data-driven approaches to improve justice system outcomes, with a focus on the intersection on behavioral health and criminal justice.  

Clayton brings experience from academia, government, and non-profit organizations to both his teaching and professional work.  

Before joining MSU Denver, Clayton worked extensively in politics and government at the federal and state levels, as well as with NGOs.  

Clayton is currently completing his doctorate (ABD) in Justice, Law, and Criminology and has a  Master of Science in Justice, Law, and Society from American University in Washington, DC, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Government from Western Colorado University.
