In a world of computer-aided design, the auto industry still relies on sculpting to design aesthetically pleasing cars.
Two leaders in the field are General Motors' automotive-design sculptors Karen Leyser and Kara Thomas. These women are not only influencing the current and future automotive designs at the multinational corporation, they are also taking leadership roles in educating and recruiting the next generation of automotive designers.
The design duo recently hosted a two-day workshop at Metropolitan State University of Denver in which students designed a "speed form" using GM's design process.
