Eunjoo Kang, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of event and meeting management in the School of Hospitality at Metropolitan State University of Denver. Kang is passionate about sharing her global experiences in the classroom to inspire students to dream big as a global event planner. Her areas of expertise include event management, special event production, corporate events, promotional events, political events and international events.
After originally majoring in political science and diplomacy in South Korea, Kang found her professional career in the event industry after seeing the presidential election campaign at Red Rocks in 1996. Kang has planned and operated corporate global events in 16 different countries working as a senior project manager. She worked the 1999 International Tourism Expo and the 1999-2000 New Millennium Festival hosted by the Korean Presidential Committee. Kang has also been involved with global corporate events for major automobile and electronic brands, including Hyundai Motors, Kia Motors and Doosan.
Kang received her Ph.D. in hospitality and tourism management from Purdue University in 2016, a master’s degree in hospitality administration/management from the University of Houston in 2010 and is a certified meeting professional by Event Industry Council.
