Shinyong (Shawn) Jung, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of Events Management in the School of Hospitality at Metropolitan State University of Denver.

He has global experience in the hospitality and events industry having worked for Shepard Exposition Services, UNLV Student Union and Event Services, Midas Convention Services in the U.S. and COEX Intercontinental Hotel in Seoul, South Korea. At MSU Denver, Jung teaches courses on event industry, project planning, conventions and Tradeshows. He is a member of the Professional Convention Management Association, the International Association of Exhibitions and Events and the Exhibition Services and Contractors Association.

His research interests have been in the area of attendee/exhibitor satisfaction and loyalty; and sustainable operations in the various segments of events industry. Jung has published multiple refereed journal articles to top tier journals such as Tourism Management, Journal of Convention and Event Tourism, and An International Journal of Tourism and Hospitality Research (Anatolia). His most recent work was published in the Tourism Analysis journal titled “Tourism Experiences During a Convention: A Case Study from South Korea.”

Jung received his doctorate in hospitality administration and a master’s in hotel administration from University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and a bachelor’s in tourism management from Kyonggi University in South Korea.
