DIME Group rocks Billboard’s 2019 list of top music business schools.

Metropolitan State University of Denver’s partnership with the Detroit Institute of Music Education (DIME) is turning into a real heatseeker.

Billboard magazine just named DIME Group a top music business school for 2019.

“A program like DIME at MSU Denver gives us the opportunity to create and accredit a curriculum specifically for today’s music business,” said Sarah Clayman, managing director and co-founder of DIME. “For the leading industry publication in the U.S. to recognize our programs is incredible.

"Our motivation has always been the musical and academic outcomes of students and graduates—having Billboard’s ‘stamp of approval’ is the cherry on top.”

This high-profile endorsement will encourage industry employers to look to DIME for their next team members, songwriters and bands to work with, Clayman said.

“These graduates will be the most employable and skilled in their field,” she said.

Billboard’s recognition lands as the group, which includes DIME Detroit and DIME online, is celebrating five-years of marrying contemporary music with higher education. As part of that commitment, it just launched its sound and vision major, designed to guide students in developing skills needed to thrive in a technology- and media-rich entertainment workforce. The group is also strengthening its commitment to Denver with the opening of a new facility at 800 Kalamath St. in the city's Art District on Santa Fe.

The group is grateful for its partners and MSU Denver’s support and student-centered vision, Clayman said.

“Stepping outside the box is not an easy thing, but this shows the U.S. music industry does need a program like DIME at MSU Denver,” she noted. “The students, who we all serve, will have opportunities they didn’t have in the music business before this partnership.”

Billboard’s accolade is great national recognition of DIME and the partnership with MSU Denver that allows students to pursue their passion of music and obtain a four-year degree at the same time, said Terry Bower, interim associate vice president of Innovative and Lifelong Learning for the University.

“It speaks worlds to DIME's innovation and commitment to student success,” she said.
